Experimentation
Before the chosen work for her fictional exhibition was set in stone, I explored her entire history of work, from watching documentaries to reading articles. The most common theme among her work seemed to be obscuring herself in infinite repetition, which is where the dots come in.
Process
After shooting pictures of the Basch Gallery from multiple angles, I tweaked the perspective, separated each major piece of architecture, and iterated shrouding both the building and text in dots, as Kusama does to herself in the short film “Self-Obliteration” that the gallery would display.
